The comparison between drops and gels is dramatic.
I like a little more resonance to my toms, but less with my snares and drops accomplish both.
They let more of the drum sound come through the sound system. Sound guys like them too.

I picked up a couple of these and was impressed. The real test was if my drummer would use these over the gel sticky he prefers. I was excited to show him what I picked and his reaction was, these are cool let me try them. I left it at that and to my surprise, during a recording session I noticed he used them. I also noticed how easy it was to get a good drum mix during the recording session. Get a set and try them yourself. You won't be disappointed !!!!!!

Sustain time is real and the drum tone is not stolen by all the tape and foam chunks I tried to damper with.. soooo awesummmm!!

As in your video, I can't stand gels. (For all and more that you stated). So I thought I would give the drops a shot. At first I didn't really hear much of a difference until I played my first gig out with them. They worked like magic. But again, not really impressed till I heard audio of my kit during the gig. All I can say is wow. These drops are amazing. Definitely recommend them to any drummer.

This is the perfect size for my floor tom. I've read one review where it says there is "noticeable buzzing"... Not on planet earth. At least I've not hear of any buzzing from mine. Depending on the song, I will place TWO of the 200gram on my floor tom. I love these and highly recommend them. Much better than the gooey stuff.

I love the drops, the very best in sound control I've ever used. Now I don't have to use sticky, shrinking, rubber jigamajabs to get tone control. Great job!

These work really well. I’m moving away from gels and any type of adhesive mute. I really enjoy the way these sound on all of my drums.

I like how simple & effective Drops are. My kit has both 16” & 18” FTs and I’ve tried dozens of different things to get punchy, low tones AND good attack (on Remo Black Suede heads) and the Drops are crushing it. They’re clean, simple, and versatile. A bit expensive but I quit thinking about that as soon as I started using them.

Very pleased with the product! They work as advertised. I would recommend them to any of my drummer friends.
